Repurposing Content On Slim Budget

by Anvil on December 6, 2013B2B Internet Marketing

Creating content is hard. It takes a lot of time, and just when you think you’re done, it’s time to start all over again. According to a B2B Content Marketing study, the number one challenge brands and companies face is the bandwidth and resources to create consistent, quality content on an ongoing basis.

Luckily, there are a few repurposing tricks you can use so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time your content manager yells at you for a new article. Below are 3 common pieces of content you probably already have with easy tactics to help stretch their worth.

1. Blog Post – Have a huge archive of blog posts on your CMS? Don’t let them die a slow death, pump some life back into them.

What you can do:

  • Put bullets points over an image to create a quick infographic
  • Use topics to create weekly Facebook and Twitter chats
  • Use quotes to create one-liner photos

2. Industry News – Every industry has news, this is a gold mine of quotes, topics, and ideas just for you!

What you can do:

  • Associate a series of “lessons learned” or “tips lists” derived from each news story
  • Illustrate quotes to create sharable images
  • Take the top 10 headlines and create a list with links

3. Data – Does your company make boring data sheets or product spec documents that are wall-to wall-text? Jazz those numbers up.

What you can do:

  • Pop stats and into excel to represent the numbers in a chart or graph
  • Turn your numbers into a narrative to help prove your point
  • Represent the numbers using photos or illustrations to create a quick inforgraphic

There are only two steps when looking for content repurposing opportunities:

  • Take log of everything you have in your arsenal
  • Think outside the box

And remember, you can’t make something out of nothing.
