Emerging Ad Platforms All Advertisers Should Be Looking At

Finding new ways and platforms on which to advertise can be one of the biggest challenges marketers face. Here are a few emerging platforms that are proving to be extremely valuable in the digital space to help guide your digital advertising efforts in 2021. Some of these platforms unlock a whole world of audiences that aren’t easily reached on other platforms.

App & In-App Advertising:

App advertising can take a few different forms:

  • Advertising the app within the different app stores to prompt people to download/purchase your app, or encourage in app purchases.
  • Advertising within apps to promote a product or service offered.
  • Using display advertising to target mobile app placements so your ads show when someone is using an app on their phone.

The last option is best for awareness and reach campaigns as it gets a brand in front of a large group of people quickly, but isn’t typically the best for garnering a ton of relevant clicks or driving any kind of lead generation efforts.

Advertising in the Gaming World:

With online and in app gaming has become even more prominent in recent years, this has become an audience and vertical that was previously untapped. Now you can’t play a game on your phone without getting an ad popping up in some capacity.

In game ads are different than typical in app ads in that they integrate seamlessly within the ad experience to ensure your brand is seen without being disruptive. Having an ad disrupting a gaming experience can leave a negative impression, but seeing a brand name within a gaming experience can leave a positive impression and it is more likely the user will search the brand later, or click on an ad from that company during the experience or later on.

Many games especially on mobile devices are also apps, so the distinction of the two types of ads can be confusing. This article  gives a very clear picture of the differences between the two and how to use each, and when, to benefit your brand.

Advertising in eSports Platforms:

There are many ways to advertise your brand within the eSports world. With eSports being one of the biggest and most popular platforms for gaming in the current climate, this is a huge opportunity for brands to integrate their brand into the game.

A few ways that brands have successfully done this are:

  • A billboard or sign within the game
  • Their logo on a field or court integrated into the game
  • Their brand name on a jersey
  • Having their brand mentioned verbally in the context of the game
  • And more!
