He set his digital mastery aside for a few minutes to answer our questions about his professional experience and starting at Anvil Media.
Why did you choose a career in digital marketing?
RG: I began my career in digital marketing almost by accident. After college, I was interested in exploring a career in digital publishing with a focus in the consumer electronics industry. I always favored more analytical projects, which quickly led to discovering my passion for digital marketing.
What originally attracted you to Anvil?
RG: I was originally referred to Anvil from another employee, who I had previously worked with at another company. I immediately became fond of the workplace culture, and the team-oriented atmosphere.
What is the favorite part of your job at Anvil?
RG: My favorite part of my job is working directly with clients to improve their campaign performance and strive to exceed their business objectives. I love presenting stellar results to clients and making (sometimes out-of-the-box) strategic recommendations.
Who is your favorite Anvil client and why?
RG: Currently, my favorite Anvil client is ESCO. Apart from the fact they are an absolute pleasure to work with, I have a personal connection to the company going as far back as my grandfather who worked almost his entire career at ESCO starting in the 1950s. I’ve had multiple family members work for ESCO throughout the years and I feel proud to continue my family tradition.
What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment to date at Anvil and why?
RG: As I’m quite new to Anvil, my list of accomplishments to date is relatively short. My greatest accomplishment so far has been writing and publishing my first blog post. Writing web content has never been one of my strengths, but I feel proud of how my first post turned out.
What digital marketing influencers, blogs, podcasts, or publications do you find most informative for your career?
RG: Throughout my career I’ve always kept up with reading Digiday and AdWeek for industry related news. In the past, I’ve enjoyed following Jon Loomer as a resource for social marketing strategies. I’m also an active contributor to the r/adops subreddit which is an active community of ~20,000 ad operations professionals around the globe who share and discuss industry news, campaign strategies, personal experiences, career advice, and more.
