Mobile Strategy Decision Making with Google Analytics

Internet-capable mobile phones are truly becoming more mainstream and more and more people are using their internet connections for more than just email access. With the release of the iPad (which yes, is classified as a mobile device by Google) these devices are becoming more like on-the-go computers than just a phone. So how is your company going to leverage this new technology? I recommend starting with your analytics.

Google Analytics has segmented out mobile traffic under visitor reports and also as a default advanced segment. Start here on your path to analysis and decision making. Because everyone likes pictures, and it’s Monday so I don’t expect you to read – here’s where I would start (click to enlarge):

Remember, you can run mobile-only PPC campaigns through Google AdWords as part of your mobile strategy. If you’re doing this, your mobile PPC traffic will also be included in these visitor reports, so ensure that these mobile users are having a positive experience on your site.
