Coming to Grips With Google Analytics
by Kent Lewis on December 8, 2005Website AnalyticsEarlier in November, Google quietly began offering Google Analytics – a tag-based web analytics reporting software. For sites with less than 5 million monthly page views or those participating in Google AdWords the software is free. So what does this mean for Websites that are currently using a paid analytics solution…are they wasting their money on something they could be getting for free? Not so fast. Google analytics does provide some features that are unique even among low-cost analytics solutions, such as A/B testing, conversion funnel reporting, and outbound link tracking. There is no harm in implementing this free service, especially for small business, but larger businesses with more complex Websites will probably find the enterprise (log-file based) solutions more conducive for their needs.
