The Most Social Brands of 2008 – Volume Speaks

by Anvil on January 29, 2009Social Media Marketing Optimization

In their coverage of the most social brands of 2008, Advertising Age asked, “What was the brand or branded product most often mentioned in social media at the end of last year?” And the answer was…iPhone! duh….The data and analysis for the top social brands list was compiled by social media services provide Vitrue which do way of launching a social media index last year. They measured the conversation volume around 2,000 brands on a variety of social media platforms.

Beyond iPhone, news sites like CNN, ABC, and Fox News were mentioned in social media quite often. I wonder if we’ll see that number go up or down next year since last year was a political year and those sites were dominated by political news and opinion. Big brands like Disney, Xbox, Starbucks, Sony, Dell and Microsoft were represented.
