Search and enjoy: 7 search toolbars reviewed – CNET reviews
by Kent Lewis on December 28, 2004UncategorizedA9 – A9’s customizable results page is a definite plus, but the toolbar won’t block pop-ups, and it skips features found on other search toolbars.
AltaVista – Nothing fancy here, just the basics. This is a good choice if all you want to do is search.
Ask Jeeves – With Ask Jeeves, the novelty of zooming in on a Web page soon wears thin, as does seeing an annoying frame placed around every found Web page.
Google – The Google search toolbar offers many solid options, along with stellar search results.
HotBot – Spotty search performance hinders the HotBot Deskbar’s other excellent set of features.
MSN – Surprisingly low result scores keep us from recommending this search toolbar.
Yahoo – Yahoo’s search toolbar includes all sorts of bells and whistles, and it serves decent search results to boot.
Winners: Google and Yahoo
