Google Seller Rating Extensions. Easy as 1, 2.

by Anvil on December 10, 2010Online Reputation Management

Having good reviews online are good for business – common sense, right? But are you doing everything you can to make sure potential customers are aware of your good reviews? If they can’t easily see and be influenced all of the good things people are saying about you, then you’re not getting all of the benefit the reviews have to offer. If you are a PPC advertiser on Google AdWords, then there are a few things you can do to ensure your reviews are upping your face value.

Here is what we’re talking about – Seller Rating Extensions.

These ratings can do a few things to improve PPC performance:

1. Increase the visibility of your ad – bright yellow stars next to your ads immediately say REVIEW! to a user and draw their attention

2. Positive reviews = more clicks. Users are more likely to click on ad that has positive reviews than one that has none. Note that Google won’t show the extension for advertisers with reviews lower than 4 stars – they don’t want to sell you down the river, after all.

Seller rating extensions appear along with AdWords ads for retailers who have done everything I am about to tell you do to (spoiler alert: you don’t actually have to do anything special – if you qualify for all of these items listed, Google can automatically show review extensions)

Step 1: Ensure that your website provides paid goods or services via an online marketplace

Step 2: Provide high quality customer service and encourage your customers to leave you reviews on sites such as Bizrate – Google aggregates reviews from a number of online sources. You must have at least 30 aggregated reviews recognized by Google in order to qualify for Seller Rating Extensions. Ensure your business name and URL are consistent across all of these sites – this is how Google matches your AdWords ads to these reviews.

Step 3: Actually, there are only those two steps…

See, simple! There is more info that you may want to know about Seller Rating Extensions which Google details in their help section. But just remember, if you provide great service and your customers leave you great reviews, Google can now make those reviews visible to your potential PPC visitors, upping your ads visibility and boosting sales.
