Want People to Actually Watch Your Video Ads? Post to Facebook.
by Anvil on June 21, 2010Social Media MarketingAccording to a recent study carried about by TubeMogul, Facebook video viewers are more engaged and more likely to click on ads. Additionally, Facebook is the #5 online video site by monthly views (at over 41,000) according to ComScore. This puts Facebook head of Hulu, CBS, and Viacom. Additionally, Facebook video viewers, on average, watch until the 1:45 minute mark (just ahead of Twitter, which keeps the user’s attention for 1:44). People who find videos through Google, Yahoo, and Bing fall behind Twitter and Facebook, with a sharp drop off in watch-time.
Finally, the big takeaway from TubeMogul is that Facebook videos ads are more often shared, and more often clicked. And what are the top performing Facebook video ads? The ones that pay viewers fake money, of course! These “virtual currency” ads are embedded in games, and allow users to stack up the fake cash in exchange for watching the ad.
