Exclusive: MarketingSherpa Interview with Web Design God Steve Krug
by Kent Lewis on February 2, 2006UncategorizedUsability guru Steve Krug provides some insight into designing online registration forms to decrease the form abandonment rate which on average is around 95%. Krug said, “you can’t make the assumption of 100% of the people who got to that page had any intention of filling out the form” and stressed the importance of giving more information about what a visitor is signing up for, whether a newsletter, whitepaper or something else. As far as designing the form itself, it should ask for as little as possible – enough to deliver what the registrant is asking for. “Create the relationship first, send me the newsletter, then, in the course of the newsletter, have offers or whatever that you can use to pump me for additional data” said Krug.
