5 Ways Your Account Manager Can Be Your Secret Weapon

by Anvil on September 27, 2017Account Managment

Account managers are the middle men between your brand and the team of strategists handling your Paid Media, SEO, Social Media, Digital Strategy and everything else in between. They help you and the team stay organized and on track and moving toward your goals, but are you taking full advantage of all your account manager (AM) has to offer? Here are 5 ways your account manager can be your secret weapon.

  • They know what you need

Your AM knows your marketing goals and how you work best so they can match that and drive results in a way that makes sense for you. As you grow and change, they also ensure those changes are reflected in your digital marketing strategy while keeping your goal in sight.

  • Your account manager is your “right-hand marketing man”

Need to pull together a new strategy ASAP to address that big new marketing initiative? Your AM can take some of that burden off your shoulders. An account manager is full of ideas and always ready to make suggestions on what you could do to improve and see the results you want.

  • They keep you on track

Your AM knows how you operate and adjusts to fit your style. Are you a phone call person more than email? Do you prefer to go over data together? A good account manager will adapt to what you need to operate efficiently. Are you a terrible note taker or forget what action items were discussed on your last call? Your account manager has your back – and notes they can share.

  • They make you look good, and take none of the credit

Seeing measurable results in your digital marketing has a lot to do with your digital marketing team – not just your account manager. However, when all is said and done, they help orchestrate and pull together reports and presentations that you’ll use to impress your boss, while you get to take much of the credit for the results. Win-win!

  • Year-end budgeting

When it comes to planning for next year’s marketing budget, utilize your account manager and ask for a year-end review. You’ll get a recap of last year’s efforts, wins, lessons learned, and insights and recommended budgets for next year based on your marketing goals. Q4 is generally planning heavy; let your account manager carry some of that load for you!
