Do you ever ask, how do my PPC campaigns compare to my competitors or how I am doing compared to the industry standard? If not, these are questions you should be asking! If you are running AdWords campaigns our friends at Google have made it easy to find answers to these questions. For those that might have forgotten about the Opportunities tab, now is a good time to refresh.
The Analyze Completion section in the Opportunities tab allows you to compare your impressions, clicks, CTR and average position against your keyword categories and sub categories. While you can’t access conversion and spend information the competitive intelligence you infer from CTR and average position will allow you to make smart updates to your campaigns. For example, if you are seeing lower CTR compared to your industry, but average position is better than the industry average maybe it is time to revisit your ad text. Look and see what your competitors are doing, are they offering a more enticing promotion?
