Portland Citizens Help Anvil Media Select Charity of Choice
SEM agency donates $1,250 to local charities based on popular vote
PORTLAND, Ore. (April 2, 2013) – Anvil Media Inc., a digital marketing agencyspecializing in search engine and social media marketing services, recently enlisted the help of the public to select the recipient of its quarterly $1,000 cash donation. The result was a close competition between the five nominated organizations.
“The voter response to select a charity was overwhelming,” said Kent Lewis, Anvil Media President and Founder. “With only 33 votes separating first and second place, we felt it was appropriate to award $250 to the runner-up in addition to the $1,000 award for the winner, as both finalists worked so hard for the votes.”
The recipient of the $1,000 donation is HOMEpdx, whose mission is to love people face-to-face. The organization serves a community of people that find their homes outdoors in Portland by offering two weekly meals as a time to gather as a community to share food, supplies and most importantly hope.
The runner-up and recipient of $250 is The Shadow Project, who partners with special education teachers to help close the achievement gap for students with complex learning challenges. The Shadow Project serves 28 schools in Portland, Yamhill County and Hillsboro.
“The donation from Anvil Media will put more than 100 new books into the hands of children in our program, helping them to become confident, engaged readers,” said Christy Scattarella, Executive Director of The Shadow Project. “When local businesses such as Anvil come forward to help local nonprofits, everybody wins.”
Anvil is dedicated to continuing its commitment to organizations looking out for others by offering pro bono services, volunteering time outside of work and making charitable donations to those in need. Anvil added a quarterly cash contribution element to their annual Charity of Choice at the beginning of 2011 as a way to do more for the community. Past recipients include Mercy Corps, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Oregon Humane Society and The Pixie Project.
