Anvil Employee Profile: Ana Borel

Meet Ana Borel. She’s our Senior Account Executive, who specializes in communication with, and service to, our clients. Anvil would be lost without her and her superb skills building and managing relationships, both on our team and with our clients. She came to us with a background in mental health and print marketing that expanded into the digital space at Anvil Media. She took a few minutes in between client calls to answer a few questions about her experience and life at Anvil.

Why did you choose a career in digital marketing?

AB: I’ve had a winding career path – from social work, to events, to print media – all of which were fairly tactile and offline. I had a huge blind spot for anything digital and I could see that was where the job market was heading. I have always had an interest in learning more about digital marketing but never had the chance. Now that I’ve landed here, I would say I’m pretty darn thrilled about it!

What originally attracted you to Anvil?

AB: I liked that Anvil was a small agency. I’ve worked at companies of all sizes and I liked that Anvil was too small for anyone to be anonymous or looked over.

What is the favorite part of your job at Anvil?

AB: I love that every day is different. I wear a lot of hats here at Anvil and every day has a new set of things to take care of. We have the ability to creatively problem-solve and really own what we are working on. I think I named a few things accidently. Whoops, I like it here.

Who is your favorite Anvil client and why?

AB: Can I say all of them? Because that’s clearly the answer and really, I love all of my clients for different reasons. Even if I’m marketing something like heavy machinery, my clients themselves are fabulous to work with.

If you MUST know, the client that I feel most aligned with is Fair Trade. Fair Trade represents products improving millions of lives, as well as protecting lands and waterways in 45 counties. Not only are they the longest client I’ve worked with, the vision really resonates with me personally. My client contacts are also wonderful people. What can I say? You can take the girl out of the nonprofits, but you can’t take the nonprofits out of the girl!

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment to date at Anvil and why?

AB: As I already mentioned, I came to Anvil knowing slim-to-nothing about digital advertising. Now, I can speak fluent SEO, PPC, and even provide strategy. My time at Anvil has truly been such a valuable learning experience. I’ve even run a few paid campaigns! Started from the bottom, now I’m here…in terms of digital marketing.

What digital marketing influencers, blogs, podcasts, or publications do you find most informative for your career?

AB: AdWeek and The Daily Carnage.
