LinkedIn Introduces “Follow Company” Button

Earlier this week, LinkedIn introduced their new “Follow Company” button, allowing users to easily stay up to date on companies that they are interested via LinkedIn. The three main benefits that LinkedIn touts are staying up to date on the company’s news, following industry trends, and identifying career opportunities. The career-focused benefit will be particularly attractive to job seekers who can quickly respond to open positions that tickle their fancy.

This “Follow Company” feature can be accessed in via the company search results page, a company’s page, or an individual employee’s profile page. There is also an embeddable version that companies can put directly on their website to capture visitors when they are the most engaged with the company. In this case, if users are currently logged into LinkedIn, it’s a one click solution to following a company of interest on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn will certainly benefit from this as well, as they’ll now be able to use this follow data as they continue to expand advertising offerings. It will provide advertisers the ability to target users more specifically, while creating more highly targeted ads, and increasing LinkedIn’s ad revennue.
