New Wikipedia Page View Tool Rocks

Struggling to decide which Wikipedia page to submit to? Which one will give you a good ranking on the first page of Google but one that will give you some decent traffic as well? Fret no longer! The Wikipedia Article Traffic Statistics Tool is here! The tool doesn’t seem to be endorsed by Wikipedia, although they claim to pull stats from Wikipedia’s squid cluster (what?). They do warn not to base any important decisions based on these stats. Not sure how they define important?Useful features include most viewed articles by month. Interestingly enough Barack Obama’s page was viewed 2.25 million times in February versus 208,494 page views of Hillary Clinton’s page. But the main feature of the tool is to view traffic of specific article titles or articles by most popular keyword, which you can even view by day.

Jonathan Hochman, of Search Engine Land, makes a great correlation between top viewed pages on wikipedia and Digg. He says that the top article ranking for search engine optimization gets 4.3k page views per day and that a Search Engine Land article that received 788 Diggs generated about 8k page views in about 24 hours. So being cited on the Wiki article is equivalent to going popular on Digg every other day.

Pretty addictive tool and one that’s a must to determine the best page for you and your business.
