Charity of Choice

Anvil believes in karma and supporting the local community. As such, we’re active on a variety of levels: providing pro bono services for local charity organizations, hosting an annual fundraiser event, encouraging individual employee volunteerism, and sponsoring a local networking group.

Charity of Choice

Anvil has provided pro bono digital marketing services to a host of local charities throughout the years, increasing the online visibility of each organization. Each quarter, Anvil employees participate in a Charity of Choice competition where they get to nominate a local organization they support to win $2,500 in Anvil Services to use for any digital marketing help they need.

Q2 2021 Winner: Salvation Army, Women’s West

For more than 30 years, the Salvation Army Women’s West & Children’s Center has been serving victims of domestic violence in the Portland area. Salvation Army, Women’s West devotes itself to creating a safe, nurturing environment for survivors to realize their potential for healing and growth as we work together to end domestic violence. Q1 2021 Winner: Love Beyond the Orphanage

Since the passing of the Special Adoption Law in 2012 in Korea, there has been an increase in unadoptable orphans due to the requirement of birth mothers having to register their family names which most do not want to do. Q4 2020 Winner: Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center

Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. is a non-profit education management organization established in 1968 in North Portland, serving over 700 students and work trainees annually across three programs: Rosemary Anderson High School, Rosemary Anderson Transitions, and Work Opportunities Training.

Urban League of Portland, empowering Black communities in Oregon and Southwest Washington since 1945. Urban League of Portland is one of Oregon’s oldest civil rights and social service organizations, empowering African-Americans and others to achieve equality in education, employment, health, economic security and quality of life.

Q2 2020 Winner: Hunger-Free Oregon

Hunger-Free Oregon is in pursuit of a hunger-free state. One where all of our neighbors have access to fresh and affordable food. Chasing this goal, they approach hunger differently. They partner with those most impacted in pursuit of changing the system and addressing root causes. They are leaders in the anti-hunger movement. They envision an Oregon where everyone is healthy and thriving, with access to affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food.

Volunteerism

From day one, Anvil has been a proponent of employee support of charities. In this spirit, Anvil created Employee Volunteer Day, where the entire team is encouraged (if not required) to take a few hours off from work to support a local non-profit.  Anvil provides these volunteer opportunities for the team quarterly.

In addition, Anvil employees are encouraged to become actively involved in local professional trade associations. Below is a sampling of Anvil’s current involvement.


pdxMindShare: Career Community Powered by Anvil

As an active participant in the Portland marketing and technology community, Anvil loves to connect people in our network. In 2001, Kent Lewis kicked off a monthly networking event, pdxMindShare, that has become a regular fixture at local establishments. It has evolved to include a career-focused workshop where experts are brought in to educate attendees on how to navigate their own personal career path. Events are held every third Wednesday at 4:30 in Downtown Portland. Since the initial email invitation to 20 individuals in 2001, over 3,200 have signed up to be notified of upcoming events and job opportunities in the Portland area each week and also has a strong following on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook with well over 10,000 followers between all the platforms.
