Overview
Tolovana Inn is a hotel located in Canon Beach on the Oregon Coast. Prior to a redesign, the Web site lacked search engine optimization, usability and marketability elements. Anvil was able to help by providing site consulting and search engine marketing services.
Objective
Anvil was tasked with supporting the redesign process to ensure the site maximized organic search engine visibility as well as overall conversion (room reservations).
Challenge
As with many hospitality-based entities, the Web site lacked significant amounts of relevant body text that is required to score well in organic searches. In addition, target keyword phrases like “Oregon coast hotel” are very competitive, especially against travel portal sites and local directories.
Strategy
In order to perform well in organic search results, Anvil developed a two-pronged strategy: develop relevant, useful and optimized content to attract qualified visitors and provide features that enhanced the experience and increased conversion (like email promotions and an event calendar). Anvil also provides continuous optimization, usability, and marketing recommendations as well as content development feedback and tips.
Results
Since the launch in June of 2005, Anvil has been able to achieve significant success in organic search visibility:
- Increased top 10 rankings by 134%
- Increased visibility percentage by 171%
