Animation Mentor Link Development Case Study

Overview:
Animation Mentor is an online animation school that specializes in advanced character animation. Students at Animation Mentor learn from professional animators from top animation companies including Dreamworks, Industrial Light & Magic, and Pixar.

Objective:
Anvil was tasked with improving online organic visibility for Animation Mentor.

Challenge:
Animation Mentor was pursuing site architecture renovation, and so link development efforts needed to focus on off-site aspects rather than on-site changes.

Strategy: 
Anvil collaborated with Animation Mentor to pursue the following tactics:

1. Reach out to existing students & alumni who currently link to the site
2. Provide incoming students and outgoing alumni with the tools (badges and widgets) to link to AM’s site with optimized anchor text

. 
Results:
Animationmentor.com rose quickly in the organic rankings.  Whereas AM did not rank in the top 100 results for targeted keywords before link development efforts, AM ranked (and continues to rank) in the top ten of Google search results within three weeks of link development efforts for target keywords.  Animation Mentor has also seen double digit increases in organic traffic for target keywords.
