Kent Lewis, President, Anvil Media, Inc.With a background in integrated marketing, Lewis left a public relations agency in 1996 to start his search engine marketing career. Since then, he has focused on helping clients solve business problems via the Internet. Lewis founded Anvil Media, Inc. in 2000 to help clients enhance their Web site performance, increase their visibility and generate sales online. In recent years, he's worked at Portland full-service agencies including Young & Roehr Group, Wave Rock Communications and KVO. Lewis was also Director of Marketing and Business Development at goodguys.com and co-founder of eROI. He is co-founder and president of SEMpdx , a local professional organization. Lewis is creator and Editor-in-Chief of Anvil, a free monthly e-zine. He is an adjunct professor at Portland State University and sits on the board for SMART. Lewis is actively involved in local charitable organizations like Loaves & Fishes and SMART . In 2003, he founded Anvil's Annual Get SMART Gala to raise awareness for children's literacy and created pdxMindShare to help connect Portland-area employees and employers through a networking event and weekly emails. Lewis is the recipient of Portland Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2004. Hallie Janssen, Vice PresidentJanssen currently manages overall client strategy and oversight of the team of search engine marketing (SEM) professionals at Anvil Media, Inc. With a background in consumer and technology marketing, Janssen originally met Anvil’s founder, Kent Lewis, as a client at Wave Rock Communications. She eventually joined the Wave Rock team in 1998 as an account executive. She later transitioned in-house as Marketing Manager at VersionTracker.com, where she received awards and recognition for her efforts from Time Magazine, Yahoo Internet Life and TechTV. In 2002, Janssen rejoined Lewis at Anvil as an SEM consultant and full-time in 2004. Since then, she has gained a reputation locally and nationally as a seasoned SEM professional and executive at Portland Business Journals’s 10th Fastest Growing Companies in 2007. She regularly speaks at industry events and writes for industry publications like Search Marketing Standard. She is also on the board of SEMpdx, a Portland trade association for search engine marketers, where she is responsible for events. Janssen is also active in other professional organizations like Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, Portland Advertising Federation, American Marketing Association and Web Analytics Association. She is actively involved in local charitable organizations through the Junior League of Portland, and was recently chair of the golf tournament and auction, which raised over $75,000 for the League's programs. Outside of Anvil and charity work, Janssen competes as a marathoner, recently qualifying for the Olympic Trials and winning the Royal Victoria Marathon. Leisa Hall, Senior Account ExecutiveLeisa Hall has been managing search engine marketing campaigns with Anvil since 2004. Seasoned in both organic search engine optimization and paid search, Hall's focus at Anvil has become providing strategic planning and management of Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns for B2B and B2C clients such as lucy activewear, Tea Collection, Flowerbud.com and Planar Systems. Hall is a graduate of the Oregon State University College of Business where she focused her studies on Marketing and Speech Communication. Outside of Anvil, Hall is on the Marketing Committee for the Software Association of Oregon (SAO) and is a volunteer reader for SMART (Start Making a Reader Today). John McPhee, Senior Account ExecutiveMcPhee began his professional career in Internet Marketing at Conseco Finance in 1999 before moving to Portland, from Minneapolis, in 2003. Upon his arrival in Portland, McPhee found employment with BetterManagement.com, where he immediately began managing their PPC efforts, and researching/studying SEO. McPhee would later be introduced to Kent Lewis via a Search Engine Strategies conference in New York, where Lewis was a speaker. McPhee began at Anvil in 2005, taking on accounts such as the Provenance Hotel Group (Hotel Lucia, Hotel deLuxe and others) & Travel Portland. In addition to travel/tourism experience, McPhee has also focused on the B2B side as well, taking on clients such as ColumbiaSoft, EthicsPoint and BT Diamond IP. Now in his 3rd year at Anvil, McPhee is a senior account executive in charge of client strategy for PPC, SEO and Social Media Marketing. McPhee has also participated in the SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) reading program for the past 2 years. He lives in North Portland with his wife, daughter and furry friends (2 dogs, 2 cats).
