RSS has been around since 1997 but with its increase in feed subscribers, RSS has started to break into the mainstream and into marketers’ list of opportunities – but many don’t know where to start. One option is to purchase ad space from an RSS ad server company. Kanoodle, Yahoo!, Google and Pheedo all currently provide products for serving contextually based ads to RSS feeds. Other options include negotiating directly with RSS publishers to purchase ad space or even starting a feed of your own. With six million U.S. adults currently subscribing to RSS feeds, advertisers have significant opportunities in this emerging space.
